Dr. Kim Girouard was born in Black River Falls, Wisconsin in 1951.  After spending as much time with his grandparents on their small dairy farm as he could convince his parents to allow, his family moved to Anoka, Minnesota when he was starting school.  He graduated high school when  he was seventeen years old in 1969.  After working for four years, he moved west to study for a career in either Marine Zoology or Veterinary Medicine.  The many summers growing up visiting his grandparents' farm definitely influenced his decision towards veterinary medicine.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Oregon State University in 1978.  After working for a year to help pay for medical school, he entered the first class of the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1983.  After two years practicing medicine in Vancouver, Washington, he joined Keizer Veterinary Clinic in 1985.  Dr. Girouard has taken advanced training in acupuncture and became board certified in veterinary acupuncture in 2001.  His other areas of  interest include reconstructive plastic surgery, general surgery, and internal medicine.
